Date: 04/19/14
Location: Crawford Notch.
Weather: Overcast and Chilly.
Trails Taken: Avalon trail, Willey range trail, Mt.Tom spur, A-Z trail, Avalon trail
Start/Finish Time 12:45/ 5:50 – (6Hr 05Min)
Total miles: 9.4
Comments: Started a bit later in the day, but was still back before dark. The trail was still in very good condition with a hard packed snow. I was able to go the whole day with only micro spikes on though I think it could have also been bare booted for the most part. I brought snow shoes but did not use them. There are limited trail obstructions worth mentioning. I had an encounter with some Gray Jays. They were very sociable and were eating trail mix right out of my hand. Great times out on the trail even with the overcast.
Dog Notes: I did not bring mine, but dogs would have done just fine on this hike.
Difficulty: Moderate
View Rating: Low due to the overcast. Though there were some really cool overcast pictures.
