Wildcat – Moriah Traverse

05/03/15
Wildcat Ridge trail,  Carter Moriah Trail
19.5 Miles

I have been a bit busy lately. I moved to Camp Dodge in order to take my position with the AMC as the camp cook. It is gorgeous view from my Alaskan tent as I wake up on my first day after sleeping in my new home. it is 5 Am and the moon is directly over mount Jefferson. I meet Jason Beaupre and we driven to meet Dan Mcginness. It was a bit cold but it was going to be a great day for a hike. We brought snowshoes and I would wear them for the last time this season on this hike.

At this point we put on snowshoes and did not take them off until our descent off of Moriah. I recently took a rehike  this section of trail between Stony Brook and middle Moriah and it is still very snow ridden… I would still recommend bare booting it.

The hike was a blast. It took us around 11 hours to do it. It was a pleasure as always to hike with such acomplished peak baggers as Dan and Jason and look forward to doing it again soon.
