Location: Pine Bend Brook Trail/Tripyramid trail/Sabbaday Brook trail
Date: 04/27/2014
Start/Finish Time 7:30/1:30
Weather: Warm but wet with overcast. Light rain.
Comments: Today was a hard day for sure. I decided to bring out my dog General Patton. He had a blast but got soaked in the process. The monorail is very unstable and it is hard to stay above the snow. There are so many dry spots though it makes it hard to wear snow shoes without constant adjustments. Just had to suffer though it, and my legs are junk. Oh well. Great day even without any good views really. It is nice to see the changing of the season.
About 3 miles into the trail it gets steep. Here I used micro spikes. Took them off after I got off the ridge line of the pyramids. I was glad to have Gor-tex today for sure as I was able to stay dry mostly as a result of it. I recommend the same for the next couple of weeks. Many water crossing are still easy to cross, but this could change in the near future.
Dog Notes: Patton had a great day. He was able to climb all the terrain with ease. The only thing was that if it were colder th many water crossings on the Sabbaday trail would have made him very cold.
Difficulty: Moderate/Difficult
View Rating: Less than normal but the falls are always nice…

Hi,
It’s great to read if your trip but too bad about the conditions. I’ve been planning (just planning ;). ) a trip north but those conditions don’t suit me. I’ll be checking on this blog again, and thanks for doing it. Love your photos,
Cynthia
Thank you so much! I often post what I am doing for the week ahead of time so if you see something you like feel free to come along for the hike. Hope you like all the great stuff in the future.
